10 Best and Worst Jobs for 2010
A new report identifies the best and worst jobs for 2010.

The “2010 Jobs Rated Report” by CareerCast.com, a job portal, factored the work environment, income, employment outlook, physical demands and stress of 200 occupations. In compiling its rankings, CareerCast.com used data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau among other sources.

CareerCast.com found that many of the “best” jobs were white collar jobs that paid well and had the greatest potential for growth as the economy rebounds. Many that were rated the “worst” were dangerous occupations with lower salaries and/or had unfavorable forecasts for growth.

Here are the 10 best jobs of 2010 as rated by CareerCast.com:

  1. Actuary
  2. Software Engineer
  3. Computer Systems Analyst
  4. Biologist
  5. Historian
  6. Mathematician
  7. Paralegal Assistant
  8. Statistician
  9. Accountant
  10. Dental Hygienist

Here are the 10 worst jobs according to the report:

  1. Roustabout
  2. Lumberjack
  3. Ironworker
  4. Dairy Farmer
  5. Welder
  6. Garbage Collector
  7. Taxi Driver
  8. Construction Worker
  9. Meter Reader
  10. Mail Carrier
