“The recession has hit everyone in the office. Downsizing has forced all of us to pull together and work harder, not just the administrative professionals in the workplace,” says the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP).
The workplace observance is part of Administrative Professionals Week, which runs April 24 to 30 this year.
How can workplaces celebrate? According to the IAAP website, employers can provide opportunities for learning and professional growth, such as:
- Tuition reimbursement to attend college classes and work toward a degree
- Registration for appropriate conferences, seminars, and continuing education workshops
- Reimbursement for online training programs in technology, administrative, and management skills
- Membership and participation in professional organizations
IAAP provides examples of other ways to recognize employees, such as printing business cards, providing computer software upgrades, awarding monetary bonuses, or sending e-cards.
