Salary Survey Reveals What HR Managers Make By Industry
A new survey that examines pay data includes industry-specific salary information for human resources managers. In which industries are HR managers paid the most?

The 2008 US Mercer Benchmark Database found that the median total cash compensation for HR managers in the Finance/Banking industry was $107,200. These HR managers fared somewhat better than their counterparts in Professional Services ($104,500) and Manufacturing Non-Durable industries ($102,000). At the lower end of the spectrum were HR managers in the Retail industry, whose median compensation was $90, 300.

While HR managers in the Finance/Banking industry fared the best, for other types of management positions profiled in the survey the industry comparisons looked quite different. For example, marketing managers in the Manufacturing Non-Durable ($$110,000) industry were the highest-paid while those in the Finance/Banking industry were paid considerably less ($99,000). And for financial systems managers, those in the Professional Services industry ($116,700) fared better than those in either Finance/Banking or Manufacturing.

The Mercer survey includes pay data for more than 1,000 functional positions. For more information on the database, visit www.imercer.com.
