A new compensation survey reveals pay levels and trends for positions in the telecommunications industry.
According to the Mercer survey, several positions in the industry saw “sizeable increases in pay” in 2008. Among these were senior sales managers, whose 2008 median total cash compensation (which includes base pay and annual bonus) was $162,500, up from $130,000 in 2007.
Likewise, total cash compensation for telesales managers rose from $61,500 in 2007 up to $80,400 in 2008. Senior installation and maintenance supervisors also fared well, as their compensation rose from $123,800 in 2007 to $137,300.
More modest increases were experienced by senior installation and maintenance technicians ($48,000 in 2008 to $49, 200 in 2008) and senior customer service representatives ($35,000 to $36,400).
Overall, the 2008 US Telecommunications Compensation Survey covered 141 positions within the industry, ranging from executive and sales to operations and network support, according to Mercer. More information on the survey is available at www.imercer.com
