Thomas E. Perez, Assistant Attorney General of the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division and former Secretary of the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation, was confirmed as the new Secretary of Labor today after a 4-month delay.

President Obama issued a statement, saying in part, “At the Department of Labor, Tom will help us continue to grow our economy, help businesses create jobs, make sure workers have the skills those jobs require, and ensure safe workplaces and economic opportunity for all.”
As noted in an previous article, with Perez being confirmed as the new Secretary of Labor, the DOL is expected to continue to be active, particularly in the area of enforcement.
