Wage and Salary Growth Slows

Private wage and salary disbursements increased $6.2 billion in May, compared with an increase of $39.7 billion in April, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Goods-producing industries' payrolls increased $3.6 billion, compared with an increase of $7.1 billion; manufacturing payrolls increased $2.2 billion, compared with an increase of $2.9 billion.

Services-producing industries' payrolls increased $2.6 billion, compared with an increase of $32.6 billion. Government wage and salary disbursements increased $1.8 billion, compared with an increase of $1.9 billion.
