Independent contractors make sense when an organization needs to do any of the following:
- to fulfill temporary or intermittent needs
- to fill in for absent workers
- to gain access to special skills, knowledge, or experience
Independent contractors do not make sense when an organization experiences any of the following conditions:
- there are morale problems
- too much extra training is required
- it is not cost-effective
