Policyholders in the Bronx and in Kings, Nassau, New York, Orange, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, Queens, and Westchester counties who had premium payment due dates between October 26 and December 26, 2012, have an extension through January 26, 2013. NYSIF also suspended penalties and cancellations during that period for affected policyholders.
“The State Insurance Fund is pleased to offer assistance to those affected by the storm,” said NYSIF Chief Executive Deputy Director Dennis Hayes. “We will continue to assess what steps must be taken to ensure we provide services to our customers without red tape and long delays.”
NYSIF urged policyholders to contact their underwriters with revised payroll information so that the Fund could adjust their premiums and set up payment plans to help them recover more quickly. The Fund also instituted more flexible procedures for assessing coverage and setting premium rates, recognizing that affected employers may not have immediate access to payroll reports and other financial records.
