In Ohio, can we pay employees once a month?

There is no federal law that sets out how often or in what form employers must pay wages to employees. However, almost all states have specific requirements on the timing of paydays.

Under Ohio law, employers must pay wages at least as frequently as semimonthly and not later than the first day of the month for wages earned between the first and the 15th day of the previous month, and by the 15th day of the month for wages earned between the 16th and the last day of the previous month. Note that the law does not prohibit the daily or weekly payment of wages, the use of a longer time lapse that is customary to a given trade, profession or occupation, or establishment of a different time lapse by written contract or by operation of law (OH Rev. Code Sec. 4113.15).
