Business, individuals and payroll companies now have an online option to apply for their Withholding Accounts with the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC). The online application system, which allows those who may need to register withholding taxes with the agency, is now available on the agency website.

“Our goal is to continue to provide ways for the taxpayer to interact with our agency on their schedule,” said Paula Ross, OTC spokesperson. “By providing an online application, we are showing our commitment to taxpayers by saving them the time of not having to complete a paper form and offering them the convenience to work with our agency on their own schedule,” said an OTC press release.
The online withholding registration system will also save agency employees time by not having to process paper forms. Taxpayers who only need to receive a Withholding account number will enter in their business information on the agency secure site and receive a confirmation number showing their information has been received by the agency. Within 5 business days taxpayers will receive their account number via email, oftentimes within the first 48 hours of applying. “In comparison it can take from 6 to 8 weeks to process a paper application from start to finish,” stated Ross.
Before beginning the application process, taxpayers will need to have the following information available:
- IRS issued Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN)
- Valid email to receive account numbers and communications from the OTC
- Business information including business type, ownership, address and start date of business
