HR and compensation professionals are more likely to grade their performance appraisal system with an A or B than with a D or F, according to a poll by HR.BLR.com and Compensation.BLR.com.
The online survey asked respondents to grade their performance appraisal system. While more than half of respondents gave the top two grades, a sizeable portion (29 percent) did give the lowest two grades. In fact, the second most common grade was a D. Here’s how respondents graded their systems:
- A (38 percent)
- B (14 percent)
- C (19 percent)
- D (22 percent)
- F (7 percent)
The survey included 150 respondents.
A previous poll on HR.BLR.com and Compensation.BLR.com found that the vast majority of employers that have adopted some form of a 360-degree review said it is working great. A 360-degree review involves getting feedback about an employee from multiple sources, including supervisors, peers, subordinates, and sometimes even clients.
