In the days before Barack Obama took the oath of office and became the 44th President of the United Sates, employers weighed in on whether his economic stimulus plans would succeed in creating new jobs. Most employers believe they will succeed, but not many expect to see results in 2009, according to a poll on Compensation.BLR.com and HR.BLR.com.
When asked “Will Obama’s economic stimulus proposals be successful in creating new jobs?,” 42 percent responded “Yes, but not until 2010 or later.” An additional 19 percent also believed Obama’s proposals would create new jobs, but much sooner--“by the end of 2009.” The remaining 39 percent responded “No.”
As President-Elect, Obama outlined economic stimulus proposals for the construction of roads, bridges, and transit; oversight of financial markets; energy independence; healthcare; and community involvement. Based on these proposals, a job site identified the most wanted new jobs under the Obama Administration, listed under major Obama initiatives. To see the jobs that may be in demand should Obama’s proposals become reality, see our previous coverage.
The HR.BLR.com/Compensation.BLR.com poll included 461 respondents.
