d-off workers will be entitled to 13 weeks of extended unemployment benefits, thanks to a provision in the Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2008 (Public Law No. 110-252), which was signed into law by President Bush last week.

The House and Senate had previously approved legislation that would provide 13 weeks of extended benefits plus an additional 13 weeks to those in states with high unemployment rates. However, the latter measure was dropped in order to gain the President's approval, according to a statement from Rep. Sander Levin (D-Michigan).
